Nine AI insurance vendors score zero on governance, audit and outcome evidence, index finds
Each publishes a description of what it covers. None publishes evidence tying that coverage to a runtime control, an audit trail, a compliance schedule or an outcome-based payout, according to AI Dispatch's trust-gap scorecards.
Nine companies marketing AI-specific insurance, reinsurance or brokerage are tracked in AI Dispatch's index: Armilla AI, Munich Re's aiSure, Coalition, Vouch, Embroker, Chaucer Group, Lloyd's of London, Mosaic Insurance and Relm Insurance. Each publishes some description of what it covers. None publishes evidence, on the page AI Dispatch reviewed for each, of runtime governance, an audit trail, a compliance schedule, or outcome-conditioned settlement terms — the other four dimensions of the index's five-part trust-gap rubric, according to its scorecards.
The coverage language varies in specificity. Armilla AI calls its product "purpose-built AI insurance for generative AI and AI agents." Munich Re's aiSure is "designed to address a wide range of AI-related risks for AI providers and corporate adopters"; Munich Re separately states that "aiSure TM -backed performance warranties enable you to indemnify your clients for their financial losses or legal liabilities directly related to AI errors." Embroker's site describes its relevant product as "Technology Errors and Omissions / Cyber Covers liability claims that allege financial losses arising from your tech products or services, and costs arising from a security breach (ransomware, system damage, etc.)." Mosaic Insurance underwrites across specialty lines including "Political Violence Cyber Political Risk Transactional Liability Financial Institutions Professional Liability Environmental Liability Specialty Casualty." Chaucer Group describes its role in general terms: "We work with brokers, coverholders and clients to protect and enable growth."
On the rubric's other four dimensions, the pattern holds across all nine: no vendor's page states that its claims records are reviewable or tamper-evident; none publishes a certification or compliance schedule specific to AI risk; none describes payment released on a verified outcome rather than a standard claims process; and none describes enforcing scope, spend or authority limits on a running AI system. On insurance_indemnity itself, the dimension these companies exist to serve, the highest score in the group is 2 of 3, held by Armilla AI and Munich Re's aiSure; the rest score 0 or 1, since none publishes a specific dollar limit.
The gap runs the other way for AI governance and observability vendors in the same index. Holistic AI's site describes "continuous audit trails, evidence collection, and compliance reporting — audit-ready from day one, not day-before-audit," and Credo AI's describes "evidence recording and audit" — language that puts both ahead of every insurer on the audit-trail dimension. Langfuse lists "SOC 2 Type II" and "ISO 27001" under its site's compliance section. All three score zero on insurance_indemnity. No vendor in AI Dispatch's index yet combines both sides: a governed, audited system paired with a named insurer willing to cover it.
