AI literature-review tool Litrevu tells users to check their own school's AI policy; no compliance certification or insurance disclosed
The one-time-purchase research assistant traces citations back to a user's uploaded PDFs and offers a 30-day refund, but an AI Dispatch index review found no certification, audit trail of its own actions, or insurance published anywhere on its site.
Litrevu, an AI literature-review tool marketed to students and researchers, discloses no compliance certification, insurance or indemnity, and directs users to check their own school's policy on AI use before submitting work, according to an AI Dispatch index review completed this week.
The tool has users "upload your sources," after which it "organizes the literature around your research question, with real citations from YOUR papers," and can also "pull papers from OpenAlex." The vendor states "every citation traces back to a PDF you uploaded" and that "nothing is fabricated or hallucinated," a claim made on its own site rather than verified by a third party.
Litrevu sells access as "a one-time purchase, not a subscription," priced by word count: "Starter at $8.49 for 7,500 words, Scholar at $29.99 for 50,000 words, and Platinum at $99.99 for 250,000 words," backed by a "30-day money-back guarantee." On data handling, the vendor states papers are "never shared," "not used for AI training," and can be deleted "anytime." It also tells users: "Always check your institution’s AI policy before submitting. Litrevu is a drafting tool, not a shortcut around academic standards."
An AI Dispatch index review scored Litrevu 1 out of 3 on audit trail, runtime governance and outcome-based settlement, and zero on compliance and insurance/indemnity. The audit-trail score reflects per-output citation tracing back to a user's own uploaded file, not a logged or reviewable record of the tool's own actions; the runtime-governance score reflects the per-tier word-count ceiling, a spend cap rather than an enforced limit on the tool's scope or authority; and the settlement score reflects the refund window, not payment released against a verified result. No certification, auditor, insurance carrier or liability terms are published anywhere on the vendor's site.
