AWS Launches Bedrock Managed Agents Powered by OpenAI

SEATTLE — Amazon Web Services has launched a limited preview of Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI, expanding its enterprise agent framework to include the AI company’s models, according to an AWS announcement.

The integration brings OpenAI’s models directly into AWS’s managed agent framework, giving enterprise customers access to OpenAI-powered agentic AI workflows within the Bedrock platform.

The move represents a shift in the competitive landscape of cloud-based AI services. AWS, which has invested heavily in its own AI capabilities and maintains a partnership with Anthropic, is now offering OpenAI’s technology as a first-class option within its managed agent infrastructure.

Bedrock Managed Agents allows enterprise customers to build, deploy and scale AI agents that can perform multi-step tasks autonomously. By adding OpenAI as a model provider within this framework, AWS is giving customers greater flexibility in choosing which foundation models power their agentic applications.

The limited preview makes the service available to select customers ahead of broader general availability.

The announcement comes as the agentic AI market has become competitive, with cloud providers offering enterprise-grade agent frameworks. Microsoft, through its Azure platform, has leveraged its relationship with OpenAI for similar capabilities, while Google Cloud has expanded its own agent offerings through Vertex AI.

For enterprise customers, the integration allows deployment of OpenAI-powered agents within existing AWS infrastructure.

Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
