SK Hynix Nears $1 Trillion Valuation Amid AI-Driven Demand

SEOUL (Reuters) — South Korean semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix is approaching a $1 trillion market valuation as artificial intelligence-driven demand for high-bandwidth memory chips accelerates, according to a July 18 report by Reuters Tech. The company’s stock surge highlights the growing importance of memory solutions in AI infrastructure development.

The valuation surge stems from increased demand for HBM (high bandwidth memory) chips used in AI data centers and advanced computing systems. SK Hynix, the world’s second-largest memory chipmaker, has expanded production capacity amid partnerships with U.S.-based AI hardware developers, including NVIDIA and AMD.

SK Hynix’s rise mirrors that of other chipmakers benefiting from the AI boom, including U.S.-based Micron Technology. The company’s market capitalization has more than doubled since early 2023, driven by its leadership in HBM manufacturing and strategic investments in AI-focused R&D.
