Munich Re extends AI performance-warranty product through Mosaic, iTOO; claims mechanics undisclosed

aiSure, Munich Re's AI-error warranty product, now reaches South Africa and is distributed through Mosaic Insurance — but the reinsurer publishes no coverage limit or claims process for either arrangement.

Munich Re is distributing aiSure, its warranty product for AI system performance failures, through outside insurance partners, according to product materials on Munich Re's own website reviewed by AI Dispatch. Neither partnership disclosure includes a coverage limit or a claims process.

Munich Re describes aiSure as insurance triggered by AI errors rather than by a conventional loss event. "AI insurance, pioneered by Munich Re in 2018, is triggered by unexpected errors in the ongoing performance of AI models in daily business use," the company states on its site. The underlying risk is named directly: "AI errors and GenAI hallucinations can lead to ill-informed decisions, business interruption or other forms of lost revenue."

The mechanism is a performance warranty rather than a traditional liability policy. "aiSure-backed performance warranties enable you to indemnify your clients for their financial losses or legal liabilities directly related to AI errors," the page states, and describes the product as "designed to address a wide range of AI-related risks for AI providers and corporate adopters."

Two outside distribution deals appear on the same page. "Mosaic Insurance has partnered with Munich Re to harness the power of aiSure," the site states. Separately: "iTOO and Munich Re have partnered to bring aiSure to South Africa." Munich Re describes its own role in each arrangement as reinsurance capacity rather than direct underwriting, stating the product is "backed by reinsurance capacity from Munich Re, one of the world's largest reinsurers."

What is missing from the same page is specific: no coverage limit, deductible, dispute-resolution process or claims-settlement mechanism is published for aiSure or for either partner arrangement. AI Dispatch's index records all three as "no public information" after a review of Munich Re's cited materials. A named product with two live distribution partners exists; how large a claim it would actually pay, and how a dispute over one would be resolved, does not appear in the company's own published materials.
