Munich Re's aiSure now backs a live AI lending model; reinsurer discloses a 'parametric-like' claims structure
A new capture of Munich Re's aiSure page names MKIII, an AI loan-decision model, as a covered deployment and describes how claims are meant to be settled. Coverage limits and the payout trigger remain unpublished.
Munich Re's aiSure, an insurance product for AI performance failures, now names a live financial-services deployment as a covered customer, according to a September capture of munichre.com reviewed by AI Dispatch that adds detail not present when AI Dispatch last reported on the product in August.
The page describes MKIII, an AI-powered loan-decision model used by credit unions, as a client. "To enhance lender confidence, MKIII's model is backed by Munich Re's aiSure insurance, covering losses from prediction errors, calibration or data drift, unexpected deviations, or shifts in borrower behavior," the company states.
The same capture describes, for the first time in AI Dispatch's index, how a claim under the product is meant to be settled. Munich Re states aiSure "covers AI performance failures using a parametric-like structure for fast, objective claims aimed towards AI vendors and deployers." A parametric structure typically pays out against a defined, objective trigger rather than a negotiated assessment of loss — but Munich Re does not publish what that trigger is, what threshold activates it, or how a payout is calculated for aiSure specifically.
A separate FAQ page names the kind of AI use the product is aimed at in concrete terms, citing hiring and health care intake as example high-risk domains: "you use black-box AI to screen job applications or prioritize patient intake in a healthcare setting," the company states.
Munich Re states elsewhere on the same page that the coverage is meant to indemnify a customer's own clients: "aiSure-backed performance warranties enable you to indemnify your clients for their financial losses or legal liabilities directly related to AI errors."
What remains unpublished: the trigger metric and threshold behind the "parametric-like" claim, a coverage limit, and a price. AI Dispatch's index records each of those fields as no public information, unchanged since AI Dispatch first reviewed the product.
AI Dispatch's full index and sourcing are published at aidispatch.news, with a source URL, retrieval timestamp and quote attached to every field.
