Microsoft says Copilot Cowork is used by more than half of Fortune 500, discloses no indemnification terms specific to the product
Cowork pauses for approval on sensitive actions and logs what Microsoft calls an auditable record; the company's product page names no insurance, indemnification or liability-cap terms of its own.
Microsoft says more than half of Fortune 500 companies use Copilot Cowork, the multi-step task agent built into Microsoft 365 Copilot, according to the product's own page: "Over half of Fortune 500 customers use Cowork," the page states. The company did not publish a specific adoption count or the time period behind the figure.
Cowork is built to run longer, multi-step jobs rather than answer single questions — drafting reports, triaging inboxes, preparing meeting briefs. Microsoft says it "reasons over email, meetings, files and more, then taps Fabric, Dynamics 365, and plugins to ground answers in business systems" through what the company calls Work IQ.
On governance, Microsoft's FAQ states: "Cowork actions are auditable, and sensitive steps—like sending an email or updating a record—pause for your approval before they execute." The company says Cowork "inherits the enterprise-grade security, privacy, and compliance protections of Microsoft 365 Copilot" and that data "stays in your tenant and respects existing user and admin permissions."
Pricing is usage-based: "Copilot Cowork is available through usage-based billing, so it scales with the work you delegate," Microsoft's FAQ says, without listing rates.
Under AI Dispatch's five-dimension trust-gap rubric, Microsoft's published material for Cowork supports findings on runtime governance and audit trail: the approval-pause mechanism and the auditability claim are both stated directly. Compliance is addressed only by reference to Microsoft 365 Copilot's existing protections, not by Cowork-specific certification detail. Insurance/indemnity and outcome-settlement terms are not addressed on the product page at all — fields AI Dispatch's index records as no public information for the product.
