Chrome extension MathPal restates homework problems before solving; discloses no audit trail, compliance certification or insurance

MathPal, a Chrome extension and app that solves math problems selected on screen, tells users "your problem, word for word" before it answers — a built-in explainability step. AI Dispatch's index found no audit trail, compliance certification or insurance disclosure behind it, and a trust-gap review completed Oct. 15 scored four of five dimensions at zero.

MathPal is a Chrome extension, web app and iOS app that solves a math problem a user selects on screen. "Drag a box around any math problem on your screen and get the whole worked solution beside it — without retyping a thing," the site states. It acts only when a user invokes it: "Click the MathPal icon, then drag a selection over the problem — on a website, a PDF, a scanned worksheet." Before producing an answer, it echoes back what it read: "Your problem, word for word. MathPal restates what it actually read from your screen, verbatim, before solving anything."

Selected images leave the device for processing. "The selected area is sent to our server, which passes it to the AI model that reads and solves it. If you're signed in, the image is stored with that solve so it can appear in your history. Nothing is processed on your device," the site states, without naming a retention or deletion period for stored images. Pricing runs on a weekly-refreshing "energy" budget: "Plans are measured in energy — a shared budget every solve draws from, so a hard problem costs more than an easy one. It tops back up every Monday." A one-time Premium tier is listed at "$299.99 $199.99," alongside a Pro subscription at "$11.99 $7.99 /mo billed annually."

A full-text search of MathPal's site — an 8,681-character capture retrieved Oct. 6 — found no mention of "insurance," "indemnif," "liabilit," "certif," "audit," "SOC 2," "ISO 27001," "GDPR," "compliance," "arbitrat" or "warrant." The product reads and stores student work, including photographs of handwritten assignments, without addressing any of those terms.

AI Dispatch's trust-gap rubric, scored against MathPal's published material Oct. 15, rates audit trail, compliance, insurance-indemnity and outcome settlement at 0 of 3 each; runtime governance scores 1 of 3.
