Linear adds a GitHub Copilot cloud-agent handoff and signed commits for coding sessions; changelog names no insurance or indemnity terms

Linear, the project-management platform that has added AI coding-agent features over the past year, said in a July 30 changelog entry that GitHub Copilot users can now assign issues directly to Copilot's cloud agent without leaving Linear. "GitHub Copilot users can assign issues directly to Copilot’s cloud agent from Linear," the company said. "Copilot uses the issue context to work in its own development environment, open draft pull requests, and update the issue as it makes progress."

The same entry moved Linear's own AI-generated review feature, Guided Reviews, to general availability. "Guided Reviews break diffs into focused sections with explainers on what changed and why. As part of general availability, they are now generated for larger pull requests, with a bigger context window and better latency," the company said. Linear stated the feature is available "on Business and Enterprise plans at no additional cost."

Linear also added cryptographic signing for commits made by its AI coding-agent sessions. "Coding sessions now support signed commits. Add your SSH or GPG key in Settings to enable signing. Workspace admins can also require users to upload a signing key before using coding sessions," the company said.

Signed commits bear on what AI Dispatch's trust-gap rubric calls the audit-trail dimension: a signed commit cryptographically attributes a change to a specific key holder, which is a form of tamper-evident record distinct from an unsigned log entry that could be altered or misattributed after the fact. The changelog entry does not address runtime governance limits on what the Copilot cloud agent or Linear's own coding sessions are authorized to do once invoked, nor does it name an insurance carrier, coverage limit, customer indemnity or liability cap for either integration.

Linear separately said its mobile app now supports reviewing and commenting on AI coding-session diffs from a phone, and that review requests can be assigned to GitHub teams rather than individuals.
