AI vendor Kolena sells "audit-ready" compliance tools to insurers; discloses no insurance or liability cover of its own

Kolena, a vendor selling AI tools directly into the insurance industry, says its product "automates loss run analysis, risk profiling, and compliance reviews," according to its website. The company markets the tool under a dedicated line: "Insurance Solutions – Kolena AI for Insurance Workflows."

The company backs the pitch with two compliance claims — "SOC 2 Compliant HIPAA-Compliant" — and separately says its results are ready for regulatory scrutiny: "Audit-ready Compliance Confidence Outputs are audit-ready and regulator compliant." Kolena also cites its own accuracy figure for a core task: "Extract values automatically with 99%+ accuracy." The company describes its client base only in general terms, saying it is "Trusted by Industry Leaders" without naming a customer.

One capability the product performs is itself a compliance function marketed to buyers who are themselves regulated: "Fraud & Compliance Monitoring Analyze policy and applicant data to flag anomalies and reduce missed compliance issues."

What Kolena does not publish is any information about its own liability if that 99%-plus accuracy claim proves wrong on a specific policy. No insurance carrier, coverage limit, liability cap or indemnity clause appears on the page reviewed by AI Dispatch, and no independent auditor or certification report backs the SOC 2 and HIPAA claims — both stated as self-descriptions rather than attested certifications.

The gap is notable because Kolena sells into the industry that would itself underwrite the risk its own product creates: a tool marketed to insurers on the promise of audit-ready, regulator-compliant output discloses no cover for the possibility that its own output is wrong.
