Anthropic, Wall Street Firms Partner to Launch New AI Company
SAN FRANCISCO — Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude family of AI models, is joining forces with major Wall Street financial institutions to create a new AI firm, The New York Times recently reported.
The partnership would combine Anthropic’s AI capabilities with the financial sector’s domain expertise and capital resources, according to the Times. The arrangement would represent a structural partnership between a leading AI lab and Wall Street institutions.
The deal comes as competition intensifies among AI labs — including OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Meta AI — to secure partnerships and funding for the high computational costs of developing increasingly powerful AI systems. Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers, has positioned itself as a safety-focused AI developer while scaling its commercial offerings.
The formation of a new entity — rather than a licensing or investment arrangement — indicates both parties see long-term value in a deeper structural commitment, according to the Times.
Anthropic has raised more than $15 billion in funding since its founding, with investors including Google, Salesforce, and Amazon.
