Anthropic, Wall Street Firms Partner to Launch New AI Company
SAN FRANCISCO — Anthropic is partnering with major Wall Street financial institutions to create a new AI firm, The New York Times reported.
The joint venture would pair the AI safety company, maker of the Claude AI system, with the capital and distribution networks of major financial institutions, according to the Times. The arrangement involves co-creating a dedicated entity rather than relying on licensing or vendor relationships, the Times reported.
Anthropic has positioned itself as a safety-focused AI developer, competing against companies including OpenAI and Google DeepMind for enterprise customers. The partnership would give Anthropic access to the financial sector’s technology budgets and a path to deeper enterprise integration, according to the Times.
Financial services companies have been among the largest corporate spenders on AI and technology infrastructure. AI labs have pursued enterprise partnerships across multiple industries as a path to recurring revenue.
The new firm’s specific focus areas, governance structure and financial terms were not immediately available from public reporting.
