Nvidia Backs Swedish AI Legal Startup Legora at $5.6B Valuation
Nvidia invested in Legora, a Swedish artificial intelligence legal technology startup now valued at $5.6 billion, CNBC reported Wednesday.
Legora has raised more than $800 million over the past 12 months, according to CNBC. The latest funding round, which includes Nvidia’s backing, values the company at $5.6 billion — placing it among the highest-valued AI startups in Europe.
The investment marks another step in Nvidia’s strategy of backing companies that build AI-powered tools for specific industries. The Santa Clara, California-based semiconductor giant has used its venture investments to seed demand for its chips across sectors ranging from health care to financial services.
In the United States, firms including Harvey AI have attracted venture capital by promising to automate legal research, contract review and other tasks traditionally performed by junior attorneys and paralegals.
The company has drawn public attention in part through an advertising campaign featuring actor Jude Law, according to CNBC.
For Nvidia, the deal reflects a broader pattern of strategic investments designed to accelerate AI adoption in industries where GPU-intensive workloads are expected to grow. By backing application-layer startups, Nvidia positions itself to benefit from increased demand for its data center hardware and software platforms.
The investment positions Legora as a well-funded European competitor in the AI legal tech space, which has been led by U.S.-based startups. Harvey AI, backed by Sequoia Capital and Google Ventures, has been among the most prominent players in the sector.
Nvidia did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the size of its investment or the terms of the deal.
