Anthropic’s Claude Surges 128% in Enterprise AI Adoption

Anthropic’s Claude recorded a 128% increase in enterprise AI adoption while OpenAI’s market position declined 8%, according to a new analysis from SaaStr, a SaaS media and events company.

The data, published by SaaStr, charts a notable shift in the enterprise AI market. Google’s Gemini posted a 48% increase in enterprise usage, while Elon Musk’s xAI and its Grok model remain what SaaStr characterized as “still a rounding error” in the enterprise space.

The findings indicate a reshuffling of the enterprise AI landscape that has been dominated by OpenAI since the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022. Anthropic, the San Francisco-based AI safety company founded by former OpenAI executives, appears to be converting its technical reputation into enterprise market share.

Google’s Gemini, integrated across the company’s cloud and productivity suite, has gained ground with business customers, according to the analysis. The 48% growth rate suggests that Google’s strategy of embedding AI capabilities into existing enterprise tools is gaining traction.

OpenAI’s 8% decline, while modest in absolute terms, is notable given the company’s first-mover advantage and enterprise sales push over the past two years. The company has invested in its enterprise tier, security certifications, and partnerships with consulting firms to drive corporate adoption.

The competitive dynamics carry implications for the broader enterprise software market. US companies are increasingly evaluating multiple AI providers rather than committing to a single vendor, a trend that benefits challengers like Anthropic and Google at the expense of the incumbent, according to the analysis.

xAI’s negligible enterprise presence stands in contrast to the company’s consumer-facing efforts and its integration with the X social media platform.
